Part 2. Devotions Throughout Advent

Following Part 1, which features a small savouring of the treasures of the Roman Breviary, we suggest you pause each morning and evening, if time permits, and consider offering one of the following to the Lord, or some other favourite devotion of your choice.

Reflecting On the Theme of the Sunday

We offer short introduction and meditation themes for each Sunday in this season of spiritual fitness training. These are taken from traditional prayer books. As you read these, keep in mind the three-fold coming of the Lord in the life of mankind:—

  • the coming of Jesus at Bethlehem, as prophesied; beginning at Genesis 3:15
    • the coming of the Lord in our daily lives — including His coming in our human interactions, our worship and our Communions;
      • the coming of Christ the Lord at the end of time.
